Help small business owners manage their brands

Background: PicMonkey is a photo editing and design software that allows small businesses to quickly and easily create content for social media and print.

Role: Lead product designer. Conducted interviews, created prototypes, finished final visual design and usability tests.

The problem

When designing, business owners need to have quick and easy access to their brand elements, so they can spend as little time as possible on design, and save most of their time for running the business.

The process

  • Users interviews

  • Competitive analysis

  • Prototype for usability tests

The solution

Brand kit is a place on PicMonkey’s platform where business owners can collect their brand assets, from logos, fonts, colors to design templates in one place. When working on a design, all their brand assets are organized and easily within reach.

This is the first time a user comes across brand kit. By showcasing an example of what brand kit is, it visually communicates what can be achieved without a ton of explanation.

After I have collected all my brand assets, I can start creating designs in the Editor where I will have all my brand components.

Next Steps

  • This design is created for users who already have brands they manage, therefore it is very tactical. However, there are another segment of users who need help creating their brands. How do we create a more inspiring and hand-holding experience for those users?

  • Color is the most used feature in brand kit. Could PicMonkey expand upon that, and curate more color palettes to help users create a cohesive look & feel?
